You are partly right. It’s simple to point out it’s just faith and doesn’t make sense. But the same doesn’t apply if for example you want to argue that progressive taxing is not the right way to go, you can’t just say “I’m giving money to me” and reflect that solves the problem. And me life democratic or not has nothing to do with the issue, that’s elementary.

As LibertyPen correctly pointed out, it is not the middle nor the working class that supports the welfare state; it is clearly those at the top end of the economic spectrum. And we end up subsidizing those equipment which the government claims to want to end: poverty, unemployment, personal failure, etc.
The fact is that the large central-mandate economy de rigueur for a welfare and regulatory state works AGAINST the middle class. Libertarians are pro-markets, not pro-corporatism.

I can’t believe how many stupid people there are here.
The rich are not the ones who are providing for the welfare state, it’s the middle class. The rich get extraordinary tax breaks in business and investment, but the middle class do not. Therefore, the majority of taxes are middle class provident.
What would you do if you lost a leg tomorrow and couldn’t ever work again? Welfare or live off nothing? There are benefits to the system, it’s not just people chewing taxes who are on it.

There is no socialism in Europe or Canada but social-democracy, not marxist, and the democratic free promote dreams have been winning a lot of support in Europe lately.
For example Sweeden now is governed by a democratic coalition of parties in favor of individual liberty and free markets.

Yeah, basically that’s what happens with welfare. You have the government taking money away from productive individuals and subsidizing the very social ails they claim to want to cure. Our current welfare system, in essence, subsidizes unemployment and poverty and makes individuals who otherwise would be productive, income-earning citizens wards of the state — dependent and helpless without the government. Its not only terrible for the economy, but for those who supposedly “benefit.”

Really this is exactly how welfare works…except the money is filtered through government bureaucrats so by the time the money gets to the people who need it, hardly any of it is left. There’s nothing incorrect with charity but there is something incorrect with using violence to steal from people to give to others…ESPECIALLY if such a program doesn’t even help the people it’s intended to help. Private charity is more efficient if you want to really help poor people.

That the person who is truly maltreated is the person who starts as the wealthiest, often for reasons beyond justification? It’s safe to say that every people on the globe contains government corruption.
People define socialism differently. But we can agree on words like robbery: taking material goods by the use of violence or intimidation. Taxation is robbery. The state uses the risk of custody to collect our money. If we refuse, the state will come to our home, kidnap us, & lock us in prison.
