too bad he is arguing bullshit, maybe he should argue which fictional book should be argued over next. All the gospels suck and were written by goat herders and people who thought the whellbarrow was a technological advancement, grow up slaves and i have read the bible, its the most contradictory, evil book i have ever read and i would be embarrased to call myself a christian if i were you. So keep arguing fairy tales while i go live my life guilt and delusional free

You need to read …
You need to read the bible.
REAL Christians don’t WANT to suffer. They desire for peace, mercy, and justice. They are meek, humble, and pleasing to God. They live to love, praise, and worship Him.
To be more like Christ is the goal of REAL Christians. And Christ SUFFERED by the hands of those HE came to save. So, WE MUST be prepared to suffer “for no servant is greater than their master” (john 13:16).
Jesus came for those in sickness, poverty, and suffering. Now this is OUR mission.

ok, im trying to …
ok, im trying to figure out what angle this guy john piper is coming at, 1st the name prosperity gospel came from the world. that’s why there is greed and every other type of evil attached to that label.
2nd IF loss comes to me by form of destruction, stealing, or killing that goes against scripture. John 10:10 gives us a description of what the devil is here to do, steal, kill, and destory…. that’s not life bearing, and i believe people need to take the gospel for what it is….

Praise the Lord for …
Praise the Lord for redeeming and calling John Piper. What a treasure he has been for calling me to heights much greater than American materialism; to know Christ and delight in Him.

The followers of …
The followers of the prosperity gospel are guilty of covetousness, greed, pride and self-sufficiency- the living out of the christian or should I say the Christ- life
The followers of the suffering gospel are guilty of positional truth- not knowing that he suffered that we may be
at peace with God (the spirit)
at peace with our souls
at peace with our bodies
They want to suffer to show
their righteousness
their worthiness
and their sacrifice
The truth you are called to be Kings and Priests

I just don’t …
I just don’t understand why so many people would love to make christianity a cult of suffering. If suffering can make you christ- than Christ needn’t have died for any of us. We can just “take up the cross” and me messiahs for the dying world out there and pat ourselves on the back for a job well done. The kind of “suffering” every christian has to face is that of a struggle of the flesh with the spirit, the godly with the ungodly. Not sickness, poverty and pre-mature death period.

beautifulswitzerland,
Over and over, both Christ and the apostles called Christians to suffer and die for the faith. When Christ said “take up your cross and follow” that meant one thing to early Christians; Pain and death. If God blesses someone with health and/or wealth, wonderful! But we’re not all promised such.

NO one has the …
NO one has the right to “feel” the gospel. Last I check, the bible is the good news, the “prosperity gospel”- that salvation applies to BODY (healing), Soul well-being as much as SPIRIT. Or is it suppose to be a POVERTY & DEATH- Jesus’ sacrifice powerless in the realm of the body and finances. We are not called to be culturally-sensitive but gospel-centric. The gospel OFFENDS even christians.

Thank God-Through …
Thank God-Through Jesus Christ our Lord! Grace is not a doctrine or a teaching. Grace is a person and thats Jesus Christ. In other words through His grace we’re blessed and we have the power to Labor with the gift of righteousness, and the forgiveness of sins. Anyone who is bound by the Law, and not grace has not overcome sin.

Does that makes me …
Does that makes me spoil? Of course not. Because paul said on Romans: 7:13 “Law cannot Save from sin” Read carefully. Where sin abounds, Grace abounded much more. Not because He knew the law doesn’t mean he would stopped Sinning. He acknowledge “O wretched man that I am!” Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Gods grace is …
Gods grace is undeserving by the way. I trust on God’s undeserving grace in my life. I don’t deserve anything but through Jesus Christ I’m blessed.

It depends how you …
It depends how you see prosperity if it’s spiritual walk and not worldly then there’s a difference. I’m prosperous on my walk with God because of Jesus, because I know God blesses me everything in Christ freely because of his loving grace he has for me. Anyone got a problem with that? Then your going against Grace. But I mostly agree that we shouldn’t preach about worldly prosperity.

It is true that the …
It is true that the most high God of Israel wants His people to prosper, yes…but in no way as what Joel Osteen teaches. The true gospel is NOTHING like what the prosperity “gospel” teaches. Those false prophets teach nothing but PURE MATERIALISM and WORLDLY things of the FLESH and then twist scripture to back it up.
