Frustrated with the financial and romantic difficulties faced by her overworked single mother (Sandra Oh, Red Violin and Last Night), 12-year old Mindy Ho (Valerie Tian) sets out to fiddle with fate in Mina Shum’s third feature film. Determined to change her mother’s life, Mindy turns to ancient Chinese Taoist magic and the promise of a supernatural solution to her daily problems. But when her inexperienced spell-casting goes awry, Mindy is soon causing trouble for the whole neighbourhood. An aging security guard suddenly loses his job, a local butcher wins the lottery, and Mindy’s mother must deal with a flurry of attention from an unexpected source. Everyone affected by Mindy’s misdirected charms must deal with the surprising cards fate seems to have dealt them.

Yeah I’m serious, I’m a pretty big fan of hers. SHe always looked 3 or 4 years younger than she usually does. Which was why I thought she was like 9 when she was actually 13 in this movie.
