Urgent versus ImportantMuch of life is driven by what is urgent. The things that must be done immediately. Or so we think. Consider another way of living: Take a deep breath. Then let it go. Take another deep abundant breath. And let it go. Take a third deep abundant breath. And enjoy letting it go. Now, what is most important to you? Both for today, and for your entire life? Write it down. And what is most important to your employer? For today? For the next week? The next month? Write all that down. Is there any similarity among them? Now, what is most urgent from your perspective for you? What is most urgent from your perspective for your employer? Are they even close to one another? If not, then what would happen if you actually did the most important? And allowed the urgent -- or most of it -- to go away? Yes, you will experience a number of emotions. So will your employer. And maybe a lot of thoughts will fill your head -- perhaps for days. Now what is most important to your employer? And for your life? As a result of letting go of the "urgent and unimportant" things, there just might be time and space to take action regarding what is truly most important. Ready? Take a deep abundant breath. Let it go. Now focus on what is most important. Do this every day. At the beginning of your day. And notice your results. May you feel blessed by your own life. May your life be a blessing to all you meet. No part of this site may be quoted or reproduced without prior written permission. |
