Gratitude ListsWhen you're sitting still your vessel's dead in the water, no help is on the horizon and you're wondering and waiting ... for what will come next, take this Action Step. It's the most important and the most urgent thing to do to assume control of the situation and engage the flow of the River of Gold. Quick and Dirty Version Think in your mind about all of the things and people who you love. Create a mental list. Picture them in your mind's eye. Remember how much they love you. Experience the feeling of being loved and appreciated. Continue on with "your list" until you are called away to attend to the job at hand for your employer. The Serious Version When you're ready to advance ... Locate your favorite writing instrument, a notepad or stack of paper, a three-ring binder or a journal. Think Big: 8.5 x 11 inch with tabs is ideal. Pick a place that is quiet, and comfortable, where you will be undisturbed for a while. Turn off your phones. Play some of your favorite music. Begin to list: the people who have helped you the people who inspire you the people that you love the people that love you the things that you love the things that assist you: your vehicle, computer, printer, telephones, your Personal Digital Assistant or your daily calendar ... you get the idea. List the books that inspire you the books that assist you the books that you love. List the organizations that have assisted you the organizations that inspire you (you may or may not belong to these groups) the organizations that you love. List the events that have inspired you the events where you overcame a challenge the events where you feel connected to the larger view of life the ones that give meaning and driection to your life. Experience the feeling of connection, love, and your immense self-worth. Next Step List your dreams. All of them ... The things you'd like to do the people you'd like to meet the places you'd like to visit ... Take a chance and be really wild! List your Big Hairy Audicious Goals. Your BHAGs, pronounced bee-hags These are the ones that make you shudder ... and you keep hidden from the light of day and you remain silent for fear of being the ... laughing stock of the world. Now look back at your list of inspiring people. All of them began naked, small, and helpless. They had to be fed, clothed and their noses and bottoms kept clean and dry. Remember everyone begins small. Now ... what small step could you take to begin to make your small dreams come true? List them. Write them down on paper. Include todays date Note when you intend to have them accomplished. Now What small step is right in front of you that begins the journey towards achieving your BHAG? Take a deep breath Then another. Write them down. Date them! This begins the journey. When you look back, you'll want to remember when you began. Now ... take another deep breath What date inspires you for their accomplishment? Write it down. Now, who do you know that's also focusing on their BHAG? What small thing can you offer to assist them? Write down when you will have completed this gift. Imagine what your community of colleagues could accomplish ... if each of you offered something to assist the other towards their BHAG? And each of you accepted a gift from another? Now, what small thing can you accomplish today from your list? For what would you like to experience gratitude this week this month this year? One last question are these things in alignment with your BHAGs and your heart? Remember, if your heart is in "it" nothing will stop you. If it's not, engaged you're back to being dead in the water. Now ... who and what do you love? Go and tell them. All the money in the world is nothing without love. Your real job, if you choose to engage is to enliven your Big Hairy Audicious Goals. Today is a great day to begin. The River of Gold is awaiting the launch of your vessel. Enjoy the journey. Send me an email. I'd like to know you have begun. Let me know about the canyons, rapids, whirlpools, and the Crystal Lake you encounter. It's much more fun that way. ~Suzan Remember that you can email me.
